A SPRING WEDDING AT BURR MANSION
There’s something undeniably magical about a rainy wedding day, especially when it’s set against the backdrop of a historic estate like Burr Mansion in Fairfield, Connecticut. Catie and Riley’s early June celebration was a perfect blend of timeless elegance, heartfelt moments, and joyful energy! As wedding photographers, it’s always an honor to document such deeply personal and beautiful days, and this one was no exception.
I just loved getting to know Catie and Riley last fall during their Southport Beach engagement session, and I couldn’t wait to hang out with them again on their wedding day! Despite the light rain that lingered throughout the afternoon, the atmosphere at Burr Mansion was full of warmth and excitement. Catie and Riley embraced the weather with grace, their love shining brighter than any cloud cover. With a soft color palette of whites, greens, and blues, their wedding day felt like a romantic spring dream.
One of our favorite moments of the day was Catie and Riley’s first look on the front lawn of Burr Mansion. As Riley turned to see his bride for the first time, excitement washed over both of them! The historic charm of the mansion’s white facade was the perfect backdrop for these special moments. It was a quiet pause in the day, just for the two of them, and it set the tone for everything that followed.
After their first look, we wandered onto the front porch of Burr Mansion for photos of the bride and groom before making our way into the mansion’s gardens for more portraits. Even with the soft drizzle, the garden was lush and vibrant. Catie’s gown flowed elegantly among the greenery, and Riley looked dapper in his tailored blue suit. The couple’s chemistry was natural and joyful, making every photo feel like it was pulled from a love story!
As the ceremony transitioned into the evening, guests gathered for a lively reception that truly celebrated Catie and Riley’s love. The tented space was beautifully styled with thoughtful details, from elegant signage to charming floral arrangements that echoed the wedding’s fresh, garden-inspired palette. Family and friends danced the night away, raising glasses and spirits in honor of the newlyweds!
THE LOVE STORY
Riley and Catie met for their first date in 2019 in Charleston, South Carolina after connecting on Hinge. Less than a year later, Catie took a job back home in Connecticut, so she and Riley embarked on a few years of long-distance love. In 2022, they took a big leap and moved in together in Huntsville, Alabama for Riley’s career change. Fast forward to 2025, now these two are married and are the best parents to their sweet black lab!
