A MILBROOK CLUB WEDDING

Fall weddings in Connecticut are wonderfully romantic. Add an elegant country club setting, a late September celebration, and a couple who refused to let an unpredictable forecast steal a single moment, and you have a wedding day that feels unforgettable for all the right reasons. After photographing Megan and Craig’s engagement session at Southport Harbor last year, I knew the day these two were planning was going to be incredible.

Megan and Craig’s Milbrook Club wedding in Greenwich, Connecticut was the perfect example of why Arturo and I love photographing celebrations in New England. The setting was classic and refined, the details were timeless, and the entire day felt effortlessly elegant. What made it truly special was the way these two embraced every part of it, including the weather.

The forecast for their wedding weekend was less than ideal. A nor’easter was expected to bring heavy rain, strong winds, and even coastal flooding to the Connecticut shoreline. For a September wedding in Greenwich, it was certainly not the autumn forecast anyone had hoped for. Yet, somehow, the day gave us exactly what we needed. There was rain. There was wind. There were also a few beautiful pockets of time when the rain stopped long enough for us to step outside and take advantage of the grounds at The Milbrook Club. The bride and groom never let the weather become the focus.

Instead, they stayed present. They laughed, shared tears of joy, enjoyed their guests, and trusted us to make the most of whatever Mother Nature had planned. That kind of ease is something you can see in photographs. There was no overthinking, no worrying about getting the perfect conditions; just two people completely comfortable being together.

The wind added movement to Megan’s dress, while the moody September sky created a beautiful backdrop for photographs that felt both romantic and editorial. The grounds of The Milbrook Club offered that quintessential New England elegance we love so much: classic architecture, manicured surroundings, and a timeless atmosphere that never competes with the couple at the center of the story. Some of our favorite portraits came from simply letting Craig and Megan walk, laugh, hold each other, and enjoy those quiet moments together.

After their ceremony, the celebration continued with the same energy and warmth. Guests embraced the day right alongside them, filling the reception with laughter, conversation, and plenty of reasons to celebrate. Perhaps that is what made this Milbrook Club wedding so memorable. It wasn't perfect because the weather cooperated; it was perfect because the newlyweds didn't need it to. They trusted the process, embraced the unexpected, and remained fully present with the people they love most. For us, those are the wedding days that make the most meaningful photographs: the ones where the images don't just show what the day looked like, but how it felt.

THE LOVE STORY

Megan and Craig’s story began in October 2023 at Match, a local favorite in Fairfield County. What was supposed to be a quick drink quickly turned into three, as neither of them was quite ready for the night to end. The real test came a week later when Craig went over to Megan’s apartment for dinner and to meet Maverick, her notoriously shy black Lab.

Megan was certain Maverick wouldn’t be particularly excited about a stranger entering his space, while Craig was confident he could win him over. By the end of the evening, Maverick was curled up on Craig’s lap. From that moment on, the two were inseparable. Megan likes to think that Maverick knew Craig was “the one” even before she did.

In February of 2024, during a road trip to Maine, Craig surprised Megan with a bottle of her favorite wine tucked underneath the passenger seat. Attached to it was a note that changed everything: “Will you be my girlfriend?” From that moment forward, Craig became not only Megan’s partner, but her best friend and the person she had always dreamed of sharing her life with. Since then, their story has continued to grow in all the best ways with two dogs, a new home, and countless adventures.

Congratulations Megan and Craig! Cheers to many beautiful years ahead!
