A FALL WEDDING AT PINE ORCHARD YACHT & COUNTRY CLUB
If you know me, you know how much I love fall weddings. The air is a little cooler, the light feels softer, and the coastline seems to settle into its own kind of quiet elegance. Add a beautiful waterfront setting and a couple as wonderful as Brenna and Stephen, and you have the makings of an unforgettable wedding day!
We absolutely adore these two. Stephen and Brenna are the kind of people who make you feel like you’ve known them forever: sweet, kind, thoughtful, and genuinely fun to be around. They were the perfect combination of clients we love working with, and their wedding day at Pine Orchard Yacht & Country Club in Branford, Connecticut, was every bit as special as they are.
The weather couldn’t have cooperated more beautifully! Their early fall wedding day brought a little bit of everything: sunshine, soft overcast skies, a gentle coastal breeze, and just enough warmth to make being outside feel effortless. It was the kind of New England fall day that reminds you exactly why September and October weddings are so popular.
Arturo and I met Brenna and Stephen for the first time earlier this year when we photographed their spring engagement session at Hammonasset Beach in Madison, Connecticut. We quickly connected with them and loved hearing more about the details of their upcoming wedding day. These two truly are such wonderful people, and after photographing their engagement session, we knew their fall day would be incredible.
From the beginning of the day, the bride and groom were completely at ease. There was no forcing moments or overthinking the camera. They laughed easily, stayed present with one another, and trusted us to guide them when needed while leaving plenty of room for the candid moments to unfold naturally.
Their wedding had that timeless coastal elegance that Pine Orchard Yacht & Country Club does so beautifully. Classic black-tie style, waterfront views, and understated details came together without ever feeling overly formal. The day felt polished and elevated, but still incredibly personal; and most importantly, it felt true to Brenna and Stephen.
One of our favorite parts of photographing a wedding like this is watching a couple slowly transition from the excitement of getting ready to the realization that they’re actually married. Once the ceremony was over and portraits were finished, Brenna and Stephen were able to relax into the celebration, enjoy their friends and family, and soak up those first few hours as newlyweds.
That day, the soft evening light was the perfect finishing touch to their newlywed portraits, creating the warm glow we’re always hoping for during a Connecticut coastal wedding. With the water, the breeze, and the two of them simply enjoying each other on the docks of Pine Orchard, everything came together effortlessly.
Brenna and Stephen, thank you for trusting us to document such an important chapter in your lives. We loved every minute of celebrating with you and your families, and we’re so grateful we got to be there. Your wedding was classic, joyful, and completely unforgettable, just like the two people at the heart of it!
THE LOVE STORY
Brenna and Stephen first met through mutual friends at a bar in New York City. At the time, Brenna was living with her parents in Connecticut, while Stephen was living in the city. It didn’t take long for Brenna to start making weekend trips to New York to spend time with Stephen.
Not long after they met, the COVID-19 pandemic began, changing the pace of life almost overnight. Stephen moved back to Connecticut to be closer to his family, and during those early months of the pandemic, their relationship officially began. After weeks of quarantine, they finally had the chance to meet each other’s families; a milestone that made their relationship feel even more real.
As life slowly began to return to normal, their relationship entered a new chapter. Stephen moved to Boston for work, while Brenna began the Physician Assistant program at Quinnipiac University in Connecticut. For the next two years, they navigated the challenges of a long-distance relationship, balancing busy schedules, careers, school, and plenty of time traveling back and forth to see each other. After graduating from Quinnipiac, Brenna made the move to Boston so the two could finally start building a life together in the same city.
Today, Brenna and Stephen happily call South Boston home, where they’re enjoying this next chapter of their story together. What started with a chance meeting in New York City eventually brought them through a pandemic, a long-distance relationship, and a move to Boston... and ultimately led them to becoming husband and wife!
