A DOWNTOWN MILFORD ENGAGEMENT SESSION
Fall engagement sessions in Connecticut are simply the best. The crisp autumn air, colorful foliage, and charming New England streets create the perfect setting for celebrating two people in love. For Fernanda and Matt, an October engagement session in Downtown Milford, Connecticut, was about more than beautiful photographs; it was a chance to celebrate a town that holds a special place in their hearts.
Matt and Fernanda were actually two of the first people Arturo and I met when we moved into our apartment building in Milford last year. Living right across the hall, they were among the first to welcome us, making us feel at home in our new community from the very beginning. So, when it came time to plan their engagement session, choosing Downtown Milford felt like the perfect fit. Their love for this town runs deep, and we enjoyed the idea of creating photographs that reflected not only their relationship but also a place that means so much to them.
When I asked Fernanda where she and Matt wanted their engagement photos taken, she said, "I’d love pictures around town! We’re hoping to grow old here together.” So sweet! We always enjoy photographing a couple in a location that feels personal. Familiar streets, charming downtown scenery, and the little details that make a town feel like home all add another layer of meaning to an engagement gallery.
Their engagement session took place in mid-October just as the fall foliage in southern Connecticut was beginning to reach its peak. The trees were bursting with vibrant shades of red, orange, and gold, adding the most beautiful pop of color to the downtown streets.
Before we started, they told us they thought they would need a lot of direction in front of the camera. We hear this from couples all the time, and it’s one of our favorite things to see unfold during an engagement session. You don't need to know how to pose or have experience in front of a camera to create beautiful, meaningful photographs together. As soon as these two started interacting with each other, everything fell into place.
Matt and Fernanda love cuddling up with one another, which made photographing them so much fun. Whether they were wrapped in each other's arms, leaning in for a kiss, or simply enjoying a quiet moment together, their connection came through in every photograph. We encouraged them to get close, hold each other a little tighter, and enjoy being together rather than worrying about what to do with their hands or where to look.
The result was a collection of romantic, natural portraits that felt completely like them. Between the cozy embraces, sweet kisses, and laughter shared along the way, their Downtown Milford engagement session was filled with the kind of genuine moments that make photographing couples so rewarding.
One of our favorite parts of being wedding photographers is getting to know our couples beyond the wedding day itself. With Fernanda and Matt, that connection started right across the hall, making this session feel especially meaningful to us. We loved exploring their (and now our!) favorite town together, taking advantage of the beautiful autumn scenery, and capturing this exciting chapter of their story.
Fernanda and Matt, we're so happy to have you as neighbors, and we're even happier to celebrate this next chapter with you! Here's to all the beautiful memories still to come, and to many more moments of love, laughter, and cozy cuddles along the way. These two are getting married in just a few weeks at Penfield Pavilion in Fairfield, Connecticut, and we cannot wait for their day to arrive!
