A SOUTHPORT BEACH FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION
One of the sweetest parts of being a wedding photographer is getting to watch our couples’ stories continue long after the wedding day. It's especially meaningful to reconnect with past wedding clients years later, sometimes with little ones in tow! Getting to document these new chapters is a reminder of why Arturo and I love what we do so much. Back in 2019, we had the honor of photographing Mariah and Alexi’s wedding at The Inn at Longshore. This fall, I got to see them again for a family photography session at Southport Beach in Fairfield, Connecticut, and this time, their family had grown by two littles!
Southport Beach is a beautiful spot for fall family photos. With its coastal scenery, peaceful shoreline, and warm golden-hour light, it offers the perfect setting for relaxed, natural portraits that feel timeless without being overly posed. I couldn't have asked for a lovelier setting for Mariah, Alexi, and their two adorable children. The soft autumn light gave everything that beautiful golden glow, while the beach provided plenty of room for the family to explore, play, and simply enjoy being together.
Rather than having everyone stand still and smile at the camera for the entire session, we made time for the little moments that make family photography so special. Walking along the shore, cuddling close, sharing giggles, and soaking up time together created the kind of genuine memories that always make my favorite photographs.
One of the sweetest things about this session was watching their daughter with her baby brother. She absolutely loves being a big sister and was always eager to snuggle up with the family’s newest addition, as well as her parents. Whether she was getting close for a family portrait or stealing a quiet cuddle with her little brother, her excitement over having him in the family was impossible to miss.
Of course, little miss also had a few moments when she was ready for the spotlight all to herself! Some of the most fun photographs happen when little ones get to be themselves, and her solo moments in front of my camera were just as sweet as the family portraits. Those little glimpses of personality are exactly why I love photographing families as they grow. The posed portraits are wonderful, but the in-between moments often become the images parents treasure most.
It was so special to see Mariah and Alexi again and get to meet this new chapter of their family. I still love that what began with photographing their wedding in 2019 has brought us back together all these years later, this time with their kids in front of my camera. Watching our couples grow their families and getting to preserve these little seasons of life is something I’ll never take for granted. Mariah, Alexi, thank you for trusting me to capture these memories, too. It was such a joy spending this golden fall evening with your beautiful family!
