Spring Engagement Session at Hammonasset Beach in Madison, CT | Brenna & Stephen
A SPRING ENGAGEMENT SESSION AT HAMMONASSET BEACH STATE PARK
Some of our favorite weddings have taken place along the Connecticut shoreline, so we love it when we get to photograph coastal engagement sessions as well! Brenna and Stephen’s Hammonasset Beach engagement session was the perfect reminder of just how beautiful this area of New England truly is. Set against the peaceful coastline of Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison, Connecticut, their session felt effortless, romantic, and full of genuine connection.
Arturo and I met Stephen and Brenna at Meigs Point, the furthest point of the park. Tucked away from the busier sections of Hammonasset Beach State Park, Meigs Point offered the perfect setting for an intimate engagement session. With rocky shoreline views and endless ocean scenery, it created a naturally romantic backdrop for documenting this exciting season of their lives.
Their Hammonasset Beach engagement session took place on a sunny April evening that truly felt like the definition of a perfect spring day. The weather was warm but comfortable, the breeze was gentle, and the beach was peaceful in a way that only early spring can offer. As Brenna and Stephen walked hand in hand along the shoreline, it was easy to see how naturally they fit together.
One of the best parts about planning a Hammonasset Beach engagement session at Meigs Point is the way the light falls across the water in the evening. Since this area of the park faces west, it offers some of the most beautiful sunset views. As the sun began to dip lower in the sky, golden light reflected across the waves and wrapped everything in a soft glow.
Stephen and Brenna embraced every moment together, laughing between quiet cuddles and soaking in the peacefulness of the evening. The combination of springtime warmth, ocean air, and golden sunset light created the kind of atmosphere that makes engagement sessions feel relaxed and meaningful. Their session was the perfect blend of romance, natural beauty, and joyful anticipation for their wedding day ahead. From the quiet shoreline at Meigs Point to the glowing sunset over the water, every part of the evening felt like a celebration of their love story.
THE PROPOSAL STORY
Last June, Stephen proposed in Boston at the waterfront one afternoon that turned into an unforgettable surprise. The couple met for lunch with Brenna’s sister and her boyfriend, who had secretly helped coordinate the proposal. Although the day was marked by heavy rain, it only added to the memorable atmosphere and made the surprise feel even more unexpected.
After lunch, the plan was to take a boat from East Boston to the downtown area. Along the way, Brenna’s sister “forgot” something at her apartment and said she would meet them at the boat. While waiting, Stephen and Brenna took a walk along the waterfront. He asked her to turn around toward the Boston skyline so he could take a photo.
As she turned back around after posing for the photo, Stephen was down on one knee asking Brenna to marry him! Hidden nearby the entire time, her sister captured the proposal from behind parked cars as the moment unfolded. After the proposal, the couple took an Uber to another restaurant downtown, where family and close friends were waiting to surprise them. It was a joyful ending to a day filled with love, excitement, and unforgettable memories.
These two are getting married this September at Pine Orchard Yacht & Country Club this September, and we cannot wait for their fall wedding celebration! Congratulations Brenna and Stephen!
