A TENTED WEDDING AT THE GUILFORD YACHT CLUB

Kate and Jeff’s tented wedding at the Guilford Yacht Club was an absolute DREAM! Guilford, Connecticut is a delightful coastal town with quintessential New England charm. Throw in some autumn sunshine and a seaside breeze, and you have a recipe for a beautiful wedding day!

Arturo and I photographed Jeff and Kate’s coastal New England engagement session just over a year ago last October. It was such a treat getting to know them and hearing all about their wedding plans. As amazing as everything sounded then, never in my wildest dreams as a wedding photographer could I have imagined what their wedding design would truly entail. Stunning doesn’t even begin to describe their day, and it was certainly one of my favorite Connecticut coastal weddings we’ve photographed!

We began our morning photographing Kate and Jeff as they prepared for the day ahead. At the start of the ceremony, Jeff was escorted down the aisle by both of his parents. As Kate walked down the aisle with her dad, she locked eyes with Jeff, and a radiant smile beamed across her face. Their 275 guests clapped and cheered as the newlyweds shared their first kiss and walked back up the aisle together!

After photographing the bride, groom, and their wedding party across the street from the church on the Guilford Green, we made our way to the Guilford Yacht Club for some newlywed portraits. We really lucked out with some of the most wonderful golden hour light that evening, and we even had a bit of an autumn glow! Jeff and Kate were up for almost anything, resulting in some of our favorite wedding photos we’ve taken this season.

Kate truly put a lot of thought into her wedding design, and their tented reception was one of the most exquisite wedding celebrations Arturo and I have ever photographed! It was classic and elegant, featuring a navy, silver, and white color palette. She utilized different types of decor (everything from lighting, florals, specialty rentals, etc) and knew the impact it would have on their reception space. Guests were absolutely blown away as they were invited into the tent after cocktail hour!

There was no shortage of joyful tears that evening. Beautiful toasts were given, wishing the newlyweds many happy years ahead. The band kept the dance floor packed all night, making sure everyone was up and celebrating the new Mr. & Mrs!

THE LOVE STORY

These two met back in 2013 on Kate’s first day at her new job in Boston, which happened to be the company which Jeff’s family owned. He was in town to play in the company’s golf tournament, and Kate was feeling a little overwhelmed having taken her first job out of college. Fast forward two years and Kate was preparing to move to New York City, while Jeff was moving to Boston from New York so he could join the family business.

Jeff started with the company, and the two quickly became friends. Kate had moved to New York City but missed her work family in Boston much more than she had expected to. Luckily, they welcomed her back with open arms! She had traveled back to Massachusetts for an interview and decided to hang around for one of the events the company had hosted called Country Fest.

It was then that Jeff and Kate saw each other again, where he asked her for her number. After the concert that evening, they decided to grab a bite and some drinks together. Their friendship continued to grow, and that fall, Kate and Jeff sat next to each other at the new hire orientation. It was then that she knew he was “the one”. In the months that followed orientation, both Jeff and Kate found any excuse they could to stop at each other’s desks. Jeff would bring her an afternoon coffee from Dunkin’, as Kate drove herself a little crazy wondering if he shared the same feelings towards her. December arrived and the two were at the 2015 company holiday party with their coworkers. After a Manhattan or two, Jeff decided to tell Kate how he felt about her, and they’ve been together ever since!

Jeff truly made his wedding day style his own! We enjoyed that he brought his love of golf into his wedding attire while still keeping his overall look timeless.
