AN ENGAGEMENT SESSION AT FARM CREEK PRESERVE

These two are so much fun to spend time with! Kyle and Nicole’s engagement session was a bit different than most of our sessions because it took place at two locations in Norwalk, Connecticut. Nicole volunteers at Getner Barn where she feeds the animals and rides the horses that live there as well. I love that she and Kyle chose to have some of their engagement photos taken there since it’s certainly a special place to her! Two of the farm’s horses, Hilly and Liberty, even joined in some of the portraits!

After finishing up at Getner Barn, we made our way over to Farm Creek Preserve in Rowayton, Connecticut, where we enjoyed some summer coastal views as the sun dipped behind the trees. The light was just stunning, making Kyle and Nicole’s photos that much more romantic! It was a magical ending to a beautiful session!

THE PROPOSAL STORY

If you’re planning a romantic international proposal, take note from Kyle; he asked Nicole to marry him while they were hiking in the Lake District National Park in England! The two were making the drive to Glasglow and had made an itinerary of all the places they wanted to visit during their trip, but had no idea of what to expect from the Lake District. When Kyle and Nicole first arrived, they found a visitor center where two women gave them a map and asked what type of trail they were looking for. Nicole and Kyle explained that they wanted a semi-difficult trail that would give views of the countryside. They found the location the two ladies had circled on the map, grabbed their belongings, and prepared for the hike.

The views were beautiful and the higher they went, the more unreal the scenery appeared! Nicole and Kyle finally made it to the top of the trail where they were surrounded by snow-capped mountains with a large lake and quiet little town below. They were alone at the top of the mountain when, much to Nicole’s surprise, Kyle popped the question! After her initial shock subsided, she said yes! On their way back down, the two found a little crevice in the side of the mountain where they set up her phone and took a timed selfie to commemorate the occasion. That evening they made it to Glasglow to celebrate into the night!

These two are getting married next July at The Inn at Longshore in Westport, Connecticut, and we cannot wait for their wedding day! Congratulations Nicole and Kyle!

When did you know you'd found "the one"?

Nicole: “When ‘home’ transferred from my parents’ house to the home we share together. I’m an only child and I am very close to my family and I felt this transition was us making a new family and life together. If you've ever seen ‘Father of the Bride’ there is a scene where the bride is talking to her dad about how she was sad to ‘turn in her keys to her family home. I was excited about that opportunity with Kyle.”

Kyle: “On our first date. We talked for hours and she was smart, funny, and pretty.”

What's one thing you love about your partner?

Nicole: “He laughs at his own jokes… or something will come to mind that will send him into a fit of laughter but no one around him knows what is so funny! Our relationship is all about laughing, friendship, and having fun first and foremost.”

Kyle: “She’s a much better dancer than me.”

Besides getting married, what is one thing you're looking forward to on your wedding day?

Nicole: “Having the traditional special moments: dancing with my dad, speeches, and reading our vows to one another.”

Kyle: “We have great families and friends, so seeing all of them and sharing the experience with them.”

What's one thing you're looking forward to about marriage?

Nicole: “Having someone witness life with me and sharing all the ‘big moments’ together.”

Kyle: “While it’s easy to point at some really big moments in the future, I’m looking forward to enjoying the small moments in life together (going on a drive, sitting outside on a nice day, etc).”
