Beacon Hill Engagement Session in Boston, MA | Meg & John

A BEACON HILL ENGAGEMENT SESSION

Arturo and I always love when our photography takes us to places where we don’t have the opportunity to work as often, which is why we had such a great time at Meg and John’s Beacon Hill engagement session in Boston! These two are a laid-back and easy-going couple, which made photographing them an absolute joy. John and Meg showed us around one of their favorite Boston neighborhoods while sharing a bit more about the plans they’ve made for their intimate wedding in the Hudson Valley this summer!

If you’ve followed our blog for a while, you know how much we enjoy historical architecture, and Beacon Hill did not disappoint! I’ve seen countless photos of Acorn Street, and it was such a fun little alleyway to see in person. Beacon Hill’s cobblestone streets and elegant brownstones were the perfect backdrops to Meg and John’s engagement photos. I’ve spent much more time in New York City than Boston, but after seeing a small portion of it, I now know how much more of the city there is to explore!

THE PROPOSAL STORY

In November 2020, John and Meg bought their first home together, which is located near a park Meg often went to when she was growing up. There are several hiking trails within the park that have beautiful views of the waterfront, as well as a scenic view at the top of what locals call “Half-Mile Hill”. Over the years, this area has been one of Meg and John’s favorite spots to bring their French bulldog, Hazel, so she can burn off some of her energy.

Each time the trio gets to the top of Half-Mile Hill, John and Meg sit on one of the various benches that overlook the valley while Hazel takes a water break. John knew Meg never wanted a big, public wedding proposal, so he planned something more intimate. On Labor Day last year, the two took Hazel on another one of their walks in the park. Though John was acting a little odd, Meg had no idea why and figured he might just be jittery from drinking too much coffee that day. She had no idea a proposal was on the horizon since she had just finished a spin class right before their hike!

Once again, they made their way to the top of Half-Mile Hill with Hazel but found a family sitting on their usual bench. It wasn’t overly warm that day, so Meg suggested they keep going, but John insisted that they wait and enjoy the views of the valley. The family eventually left and Meg sat down while John poured Hazel some water. After a few moments, she noticed he hadn’t walked over to sit down next to her. As Meg looked at John, she realized he was knelt down on one knee, holding a beautiful engagement ring, asking her to marry him!

These two are getting married this summer at Windrift Hall in the Hudson Valley, and we cannot wait for their intimate wedding! Congratulations Meg and John!
