Our Website Launch & Rebrand
If you follow us on Instagram, you know that Arturo and I announced the launch of our new website and brand a couple of weeks ago. As our business has grown over the past couple of years, I’ve gone back and forth on the idea of investing in hiring a branding and website designer. Arturo and I know the importance of brand recognition and having a fine-tuned website that works for you online 24/7. Since we’re wedding photographers that shoot exclusively on location, we don’t have a physical location for our business, hence the extreme importance of a well-curated and designed online home! Despite the pandemic, the last year showed me how Shaina Lee Photography continued to grow. I finally decided we needed a rebrand and newly designed website to highlight that increase in business and the improvement of our services.
In 2017, I rebranded Shaina Lee Photography to the pink pineapple we’ve all grown to love. I had chosen the pineapple for a variety of reasons, one being our love for Hawaii. Pineapples are also a symbol of friendship and hospitality, and because we want our couples to feel completely comfortable with us by the time their wedding day arrives, we thought it was a perfect fit!
At that point, I still continued to do 100% of our website design, because at that time it was a task I wasn’t quite ready to hand over to someone else. However, in these last four years, our clientele has changed and we’ve honed in on the experience we provide our couples. Arturo and I have also increased our investment prices, and our technical skills and knowledge of photography have also grown to make us stronger photographers.
After several conversations and deciding whether it was a want or a need for Shaina Lee Photography, I finally started my search for a branding and website designer. I looked for a few weeks on Instagram and Google, and finally stumbled upon Sydney Robinson of Blissful Brands. Sydney’s work is beautiful, elegant, and 100% stood out from other designers whose work I kind of liked. I could certainly envision working with her and knew that she could help us elevate the look and feel of Shaina Lee Photography.
Sydney took all of the ideas swirling in my head about a new website and managed to create something that I truly love for our new online home. While I enjoyed the blush color palette of our old branding, Arturo and I have truly grown as a photography team so I wanted something a tad less feminine. I chose the dusty blue palette because it represents both of us a bit better while still remaining a fairly neutral color that doesn’t take away from our colorful photography style! I also knew we wanted to keep the pineapple in our logo, but Arturo and I wanted to update its design slightly. My favorite part about our new logo is how Sydney added the “est. 2010” to either side of the pineapple. I’m heading into my 12th season of photographing weddings, and this small (but impactful!) detail is a constant reminder of where I started when I entered the Connecticut wedding industry!
As I mentioned before, I had done 100% of the work and design for our website until we decided to partner with Sydney. While I was proud of what I had learned, implemented, and created for the Shaina Lee Photography website, I knew that hiring a designer was the only way to truly take our online presence to the next level. Sydney gave our website a complete overhaul, and we’re just ecstatic with how it turned out! The way the imagery displays is stronger (YAY for full-page bleeds (#webdesignnerd)) and the fonts have a more polished style to them. I could go on and on about all of the little details I just adore so much, but I’ll leave it at that.
Arturo and I are excited to see how our business continues to grow in the years to come, and find out where we’ll go from here! Thank you to each of our couples, fellow industry peers, family, and friends who celebrated this launch with us. Cheers to an amazing 2021 wedding season and beyond!
