TOP 3 QUALITIES OF A BRANDING PHOTOSHOOT LOCATION TO LOOK FOR

There are a variety of characteristics and qualities you should look for when selecting a location for your next personal branding session. While I’m available to help my own brand photography clients scout for potential photoshoot settings, today I’m sharing the top 3 things you should keep an eye out for as you plan your session.

NATURAL LIGHT

One of the greatest assets a photographer can have is the opportunity to work in a space blessed with abundant natural light! While I possess the skills to adapt to any lighting situation, when shooting on location for personal brands, efficiency is paramount. Setting up and dismantling artificial lighting setups can consume precious time that could be better spent capturing a diverse range of shots. That's why I prioritize locations flooded with natural light that have ample windows and expansive, open spaces!

SOFT, EARTH-TONE COLORS

When you’re considering a space for your branding session, pay attention to the colors! Look for something with walls that are painted neutral colors like whites, soft creams, light grays, and other misty- or wood-toned colors. This will help avoid any colors with deep hues reflecting onto your skin in your personal brand photos.

NEUTRAL SPACE

Another crucial aspect to consider when evaluating a location is its neutrality. Recognizing that each brand possesses its own distinct identity, I strive to find bespoke settings tailored to the unique essence of every client I serve during the location scouting process. While I seek environments that harmonize with the brand's aesthetic, it's imperative that the space remains a backdrop rather than a focal point. Spaces with overly pronounced designs or distinctive features can inadvertently overshadow my clients and their brands—an outcome I diligently try to avoid!
