Common Hesitations About Boudoir Photography & Why You Shouldn’t Let Them Bother You

Since I started offering boudoir photography, I can't tell you how many times I've received an inquiry only to have the lovely lady on the other end of the conversation tell me she wasn't sure if she wanted to book because she was hesitant to feel so vulnerable in front of my camera.  I mean, can you blame her?  That's totally normal!!  Luckily I've been able to share my insight as a boudoir photographer, and am able to convince most of those beauties into moving forward with their session by shutting down those hesitations.  For those of you sharing those same fears regarding boudoir photography, read on to see why you should book that session you've been thinking about!

You don't need to lose any weight.
Beauty doesn't have a size, a shape, an age or a color.  I've always believed beauty is internal, so whether you're size 2 or 22, you're gorgeous!  It's my goal as a boudoir photographer to help you feel that while remembering how important and refreshing it is to feel comfortable in your own skin.  Boudoir sessions help you to understand how beautiful you are at this moment.

Being nervous is totally NORMAL!
The feeling of nervousness is a sign that you're out of your comfort zone, which on a positive note, means you're open to growth and change!  Most ladies book a boudoir session to have the opportunity to create beautiful images to gift their partner.  If I'm being totally honest, that's not the main reason I decided to offer boudoir photography in the first place!  One of my favorite parts of being a boudoir photographer is to see my clients grow to feel confident and revived during their session.  As I mentioned before, boudoir sessions help you to realize how stunning and beautiful you are at this time in your life.  Seeing that self-empowerment bloom within them during their session with me is something I cherish!  As you become more at ease in front of my camera (don't worry, I'll be there to guide you the entire way!), those nerves will melt away!  As women, we come in all shapes and sizes.  Some of us have scars, others have stretch marks, and that's okay!  That's what make us WOMEN.

You have other outfit options besides lingerie!
When it comes to deciding what to wear for your boudoir session, the options are endless!  When boudoir photography comes to mind, the first outfit people usually imagine is a woman in a lingerie outfit.  Of course, you're more than welcome to wear lingerie during your boudoir session, but it's not the only choice out there!  Feel free to mix it up a bit by bringing some cozy outfits that give off an intimate vibe, such as a chunky knit off-the-shoulder sweater paired with a lace or satin lingerie set.  I generally recommend my clients bring a selection of outfits, as to add some extra visual interest to their photographs.  We can narrow down what you'll wear during your session together while you enjoy a mimosa or some bubbly!  No matter your size or shape, there are plenty of places to find both cozy and sexy outfit styles that will allow you to feel fabulous and rock your confidence.  Some favorites of my clients' include stores such as H&MTorridVictoria's SecretCacique and Adore Me.

Don't worry about finding the perfect poses.
One of the best things about your boudoir session is that you don't have to have any modeling experience.  In fact, I've found that the best boudoir clients are those who have little to no experience being professionally photographed!  I promise to never put you into a pose that makes you feel uncomfortable.  One thing that makes boudoir portraits sexy is the lines and curves of your body.  My job is finding a position you're comfortable moving your body into and working from there!

Of course, I'd love to share your images, but your privacy is more important to me!
I completely understand that the thought of your photos posted on social media can be a little scary, but let me try to put you at ease.  I love to show my boudoir sessions not only to display my work and promote the boudoir side of my business, but more importantly, to build up and empower other women!!  My clients who are nervous about me sharing images online which show their face have expressed that they are completely comfortable with me using their photos that don't show their identity.  If you do give me permission to share your photos on my blog and social media, I respect your privacy by not using any images you don't feel comfortable exposing.

Your session will empower you.
If there's only one thing you take away from this post, I want you to know that you will feel confident and revived when you leave your session.  The time we spend together is laid back and fun, allowing room in your life for a bit of self-love and nurturing.  Boudoir sessions are exciting, filled with your favorite music and a bit of bubbly too!  This is an experience and a game changer in how you see yourself!  A boudoir session is non-judgemental.  There are no labels.  It's all about you recognizing the beauty you truly possess, both inside and out!
