Flowers by Danielle is a wedding and event floral design team which Arturo and I hold near and dear to our hearts because Danielle was our wedding day florist!!  Since our own wedding in 2014, we've had the chance to photograph their beautiful floral designs on several occasions AND we get to work with them multiple times for our 2018 wedding season!  Danielle leads her creative team out of their beautiful shop in Trumbull, Connecticut.  As soon as couples walk into the shop for their consultation, the smell of fresh blooms fills the air.  How could you not love that?!

One of the many things Arturo and I enjoyed about working with Danielle was the slideshow she showed us for some wedding floral inspiration, especially since we weren't really sure what we wanted in terms of wedding flowers.  With over 20 years of experience, Danielle was easily able to help us figure out which florals we liked best that would suit the style of our wedding.  On our wedding day when the bouquets were delivered to the hotel room where I was getting ready, I was in absolute awe of how Danielle and her team brought our ideas and wishes to life!

I am so excited for you to read more about Danielle and her team below while also getting to see some of her beautiful floral design work!

Tell me a bit about you and your business!  How did you get started in the wedding industry?
"I started working at a retail flower shop when I was 16 years old.  I continued working there all through high school and college. When I graduated college, I got a corporate job, however, everyone that knew me knew that I'd worked with flowers for a long time and started asking if I would do their wedding or family members' weddings.  Some venues saw my work and asked for my business cards; Flowers By Danielle became officially established in 2000. "

What do you love most about wedding floral design?
"Every day and every wedding is different!  I am never bored for sure!  Being a part of a client's most special day is so gratifying! "

What should couples know about your process and about working with you?
"We typically meet with couples around 9 months to a year before their wedding date.  There are the occasions of clients booking us closer to their wedding, however, we only do a select number of weddings each year so early booking is highly recommended.  When couples come to our shop for a consultation, we go through a whole slideshow of all our own work so clients feel confident in hiring us to achieve their vision.  Once they book, we send them a formalized contract."

What is your favorite part about working with couples who are planning their wedding day?
"When you change a ballroom or raw space into a complete transformation, it is truly so rewarding to know you are forever in their memories when they look back at their wedding photos. "

What (or who) inspires your creativity?
"I am inspired by nature and the beauty of the season.  If a client shares just a few inspiration photos, I love if they allow us to hand select their blooms and run with it because it allows my creative juices to flow! "

As a wedding floral designer, what is one tip or piece of advice you'd give a couple for their wedding day?
"If you hire professionals that have been in the industry for a long time, then trust them and allow them to do their job.  It's definitely not my first rodeo!  I often give this analogy to clients: "If you gave a chef a whole bunch of ingredients and said 'make me a delicious meal with these items' who knows what it would taste like".  For me, it's kind of the same thing; if a client will allow me to select the freshest blooms in season (which I can actually envision in my head when ordering), the bouquet will be amazing!  It's a trust factor I know, but when you love what you do, it will show in your work."
