When your clients ask if there are any specific locations that you want to shoot at, you know it's going to be a great session!! That's just what Melissa and Andy did when they began planning their engagement session with me. I'm in love with the architecture of the Yale University campus in downtown New Haven, Connecticut because it always makes for some epic backdrops to my clients' portraits! When Melissa and Andy told me they'd settled on Yale for their engagement session photos, I couldn't wait! I was so excited to reconnect with them during their session last week. These two are just the sweetest; their engagement session took place two days after our third wedding anniversary and brought me the most beautiful sunflower bouquet! Sometimes I'm absolutely beside myself with how wonderful our clients are!
Last August I photographed Andy's Cranbury Park wedding proposal to Melissa, so I was beyond excited when they contacted me this spring inquiring about wedding photography. They're two of the most thoughtful and generous people I know! When Melissa and Andy came to our studio in March to chat about what they have planned for their big day, they surprised Arturo and me with a box of gourmet donuts from one of our favorite local shops, Donut Crazy (a little backstory for you -- a few times a year, Arturo and I will take a day off from work to make surprise donut deliveries to our family and friends (because hey, who doesn't like sweet surprises?!) I'm sure there will be a future blog post about this!). On top of the box was a handwritten note that said, "Shaina, we donut want just any wedding photographer, we want you!" Needless to say their note alone made our day, and the donuts were delicious too! Funny enough, at the end of Melissa and Andy's engagement session we were right around the corner from Donut Crazy's New Haven location, so we made our way over where the two split a tasty treat!
Melissa and Andy met back in 2010 when they were both volunteer EMTs in their hometown of Goshen, Connecticut. After a few years and some casual dates, they became an official couple in 2013. Last year in mid-July, Andy contacted me looking for a photographer to capture his wedding proposal to Melissa. We met up to chat about the details of the proposal and decided to do everything at Cranbury Park in Norwalk, Connecticut. Shortly before they arrived at the park, Andy had told Melissa that he'd hired a portrait photographer for a photo session since they didn't have any professional photos of the two of them. About halfway through their session, I gave Andy the signal to pop the question. To Melissa's surprise, he got down on one knee, pulled out a beautiful engagement ring and asked her to be his wife!
These two are getting married at one of my favorite local wedding venues, The Inn at Longshore in Westport, Connecticut next June! Arturo and I are beyond excited to see them tie the knot!
