I loved getting to know Jasmine and James during their Walnut Beach engagement session in Milford, Connecticut last December and was so happy to photograph their wedding at Saint Clements Castle in Portland, too! They come from two wonderful families who I loved getting know a bit throughout the day. The weather was definitely in their favor, as it wasn't your typical humid August day like we normally have here in New England! In lieu of a First Look, Jasmine and James decided they didn't want to see each other but still wanted to have some time together before their ceremony. It was one of the sweetest moments of the day! Their family and friends celebrated the newlyweds by keeping the dance floor packed all night long. Jasmine and her mom even broke out into a surprise dance to an old-school hip hop song, and they rocked it!
Jasmine and James met in their junior year of high school through mutual friends. James was writing a research paper when his friend started throwing rocks at his window, trying to convince him to hang out with another group of friends which Jasmine happened to be a part of. The group went to Walnut Beach (where Jasmine would ask him to prom later in the school year!), then to watch a movie at a friend's house. After a few months of spending time together, James asked Jasmine to be his girlfriend on a late night walk to the Audubon Society at Milford Point. The two graduated high school and went on to study at the University of Connecticut together. To celebrate their eighth anniversary, James took Jasmine on a romantic getaway to Niagara-on-the-Lake in southern Ontario to enjoy the beautiful sights of Niagara Falls. On their last day there, they had an early breakfast and enjoyed a horse drawn carriage ride, which James had thoughtfully arranged for as part of his wedding proposal. Though it was a late March day, it began to snow! They cuddled up together to keep warm for the duration of their ride. As the carriage approached the lake, James turned to Jasmine and asked her to marry him!
Congratulations Jasmine and James! Wishing you many more wonderful years filled with love and adventure!
You guys know I'm all about family heirlooms... These are the same pearls Jasmine's grandmother wore on her own wedding day over 68 years ago!
I think this may be one of the best bridesmaids' reaction to seeing the bride in her dress!
Look at those smiles!
Aren't they adorable?!
It's party time!
