I'm so excited to be kicking off my first Vendor Love post of 2017 today! Meet Jess, a.k.a. Expert Confetti Mixologist, of The Confetti Bar! She and her husband, Cliff, are the owners of this fun Connecticut-based business that celebrates happiness day and night. I've had the pleasure of working with Jess and Cliff on numerous occasions, and each time they radiate nothing but love and laughter! In the time I've spent with them, I learned the ins and outs of confetti throwing (and have gotten some pretty sweet photos in the process, too!). They make all kinds of confetti, including biodegradable and custom mixes, and have worked with many different businesses, both big and small. I am beyond excited to order some Custom Confetti for myself in the future! For now, I'll stop talking and let Jess tell you all about the joys of confetti and her job as a chief confetti thrower!
What types of events can your confetti be used for?
"All kinds (not super helpful, I know, haha!)! But seriously, if you name a type of event, chances are I've made confetti for it! Most often, though, I make a lot of confetti for weddings, birthdays and business brand purposes (either corporate or small business). Since we specialize in custom confetti, the sky is really the limit!"
What are some other ways confetti can be used?
"Oh boy... I could talk all day about the ways I think about using confetti. I'd say the most popular way to use it is as either table decor or a photo prop, but I also love to use it in crafts and other creative ways (many of my ideas can be found on my blog). I also offer a free PDF of '101 Ways to Use #TheConfettiBar Confetti' through our site (you can find more information about it here)."
How did you get into the confetti-making business?
"As you can imagine I get asked this a lot, and to be perfectly honest, it literally started when I woke up one day and told my husband I wanted to start a confetti shop! I've always collected mixed sequins and confetti, but when it came time to using it, it always seemed a little boring. Confetti is supposed to be the ultimate symbol for celebration, yet nobody made really fun confetti mixes. I decided it was my calling to do just that!"
What (or who) has inspired your creativity?
"My grandmother used to craft with me a lot when I was younger, and my mom always loved decorating for holidays and making events special. I guess if I look back, they inspired me from a young age to be creative in general, as I've always dabbled in all sorts of things — painting, scrapbooking, jewelry making, baking, etc. I've also been a problem solver from a young age (you can ask my mom, who wrote it in my baby book!), and I think of creativity as an exercise in that... how can I solve a problem in a way that is functional yet also exciting. That, to me, is creativity."
