Engagement Session Props

When preparing for their engagement session, many of my couples ask me if they should bring props.  Though I tell them that they're always more than welcome to, it's not something essential that will make or break the session!  For those who do want to bring a little something, I've put together a list of a few ideas that are relatively easy to create or even pick up on your way to your session!

1. The First Letter of Your Future Last Name
If you've decided you'll be taking your future spouse's last name, a great way to incorporate it into your session is to make a DIY letter!  Ashley made this for her and Ryan's engagement session with just a few supplies from the local craft store!

2. Bouquets
I LOVE flowers in my clients' photographs.  They bring in a little extra beauty to your photos, and are easy enough to pick up right before we meet for your session!  They're also a great way to bring your wedding colors into your engagement photos.
Quick Tip: Trader Joe's has some of the most beautiful flowers around, with a large variety to choose from!

3. Custom Signage
Many couples use their engagement photos to announce their wedding date, as well as on their save the dates that they send out to their wedding guests.  Laser-cut wood signs will add a fun element to your session, as well as custom hand lettered signage!

4. Sweets & Treats
For those of you who have a sweet tooth, this is a great option for a prop!  Think along the lines of cupcakes or macaroons.  These goodies are also perfect for getting some great ring shots.  If you want to take it a step further, look into having your session at an old fashioned ice cream parlor or candy shop!

5. Champagne
What better way to celebrate your engagement than popping open a bottle of bubbly during your session?  Bring along your favorite bottle of champagne and some elegant champagne flutes that compliment your wedding color palette!

6. Hobbies & Activities
You can be sure to that your engagement session reflects you and your partner if you incorporate a hobby that you two enjoy doing together.  Fishing, taking the dog for a walk or exploring the downtown area are all great things to do during your session!

If none of these spark your interest, Pinterest has plenty of good ideas as well!  In the end, it all comes down to you two.  What is most important to me is capturing your unique personalities and the love that you share!
